Ryan Injendi blames Mudavadi for UDA nomination loss in Malava, concedes defeat and endorses Ndakwa

Ryan Injendi, son of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi, has accused Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi of influencing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) primaries in Malava, where he lost his bid for the party ticket.

Speaking after conceding defeat on Sunday, Ryan claimed that Mudavadi’s office interfered with the nomination process, denying him a fair chance. He argued that candidates should have settled on a ticket through dialogue rather than a competitive vote.

“We were with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and we wanted to deliberate amongst ourselves who would get the ticket, but were advised to vote instead,” he said.

Ryan stressed that neither President William Ruto nor other UDA leaders interfered in the process, questioning why the PCS involved himself in Malava’s affairs. He also expressed disappointment, noting Mudavadi’s close ties with his late father.

“To the office of the PCS, what was so big in Malava that you had to come and challenge a young man like me? Why wouldn’t you have left the people of Malava to vote their own way?” he asked.

Despite his frustrations, Ryan conceded and congratulated Kakamega County Minority Leader David Ndakwa, who secured the ticket. He urged Ndakwa to ensure the constituency remains aligned with the government.

“We have conceded, but we will not forget. I will let Ndakwa campaign, but I will still stand with the government and President Ruto,” he said.

The by-election to replace the late Malulu Injendi is set for November 27. Mudavadi, currently in New York, has yet to respond to the claims.
