The Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in 10 counties on Wednesday, March 4, as part of scheduled network maintenance.
In a notice issued Tuesday evening, the utility company said power supply will be interrupted in selected areas between 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., depending on the location.
The counties set to be affected are Nairobi, Kajiado, Nakuru, Bomet, Bungoma, Kakamega, Nyamira, Nyeri, Kiambu and Kilifi.
In Nairobi County, power will be interrupted in parts of Kibera Drive and Kabarnet Road from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas expected to be affected include DC Kibera, Kichinjio, Kibera Law Courts, Huduma Center, Makina Mosque, Kambi Muru, Mashimoni Primary School, parts of Kisumu Ndogo and Gatwekera, among other surrounding customers.
In Kajiado County, outages will affect parts of Rongai, Church Road and Matasia between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. Customers along Magadi Road, including Shell Laiser Hill Academy, Olerai School, Kware Market and nearby facilities, will be without electricity during the maintenance period.
Nakuru County will see interruptions in parts of Mogotio and Lake Bogoria from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., affecting areas such as Ravine Junction, Soin Hospital, Mogotio town and nearby sisal factories.
In Bomet County, parts of Sotik and Gorgor will experience power cuts from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., impacting markets, schools and water facilities within the listed zones.
Bungoma County residents in Webuye and Kimilili will also be affected between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., while in Kakamega County, outages will hit parts of Kakamega and Shikoti during the same hours.
In Nyamira County, Birongo and Mongoni areas will face interruptions from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting markets, schools and tea factories.
Nyeri County will experience extended outages from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in parts of Ndima and Kianga, with several markets, coffee factories and villages listed for the maintenance exercise.
In Kiambu County, areas in Murera Sisal, Jujafarm and Athi will be without power from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting residential estates, schools, markets and nearby institutions.
Kilifi County will also see outages in KBC Marekebuni, Garashi, Watamu and Gede between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly as technicians carry out the scheduled works.
