Nandi Senator Kiprotich Arap Cherargei has declared that the United Democratic Alliance’s strong showing in the November 27 by-elections is a clear sign that President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki are well-positioned for a comfortable victory in the 2027 General Election.
In a statement issued on Friday, Cherargei described the outcome as “a strong signal” of the direction Kenyans intend to take, adding that the pair would “overrun opponents with ease” as they seek a second term.
The by-elections were held across 22 electoral areas, including parliamentary, senatorial and ward seats. Cherargei congratulated all government-aligned candidates who clinched victories, praising what he termed as disciplined, resilient and people-driven campaigns.
He commended UDA for what he called an exceptional performance under the leadership of President Ruto, noting that the results reflected “absolute confidence” in the party’s vision and agenda.
The senator also listed several opposition figures he believes were politically wounded by the outcome, arguing that the results had exposed weaknesses among rival formations.
Vote counting began immediately after polling stations closed at 5 p.m., with tallying conducted at constituency and ward levels. IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon later applauded stakeholders for adhering to timelines and maintaining order throughout the exercise.
Cherargei urged UDA supporters to sustain grassroots mobilization as the party begins to position itself for the 2027 contest.
