Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, has announced the passing of his elder brother, James Mukhwana Wetang’ula, a retired teacher known for his humility, discipline, and wisdom. James dedicated his life to education, shaping generations of students, and was widely respected in his community for his guidance and mentorship.
James, the firstborn of Mzee Dominic Khaemba Wetang’ula and the late Mama Anna Wetang’ula, was twin to Virginia Mulongo Sikhoya and brother to Dorothy Watila, Mary Ongamo, Scolastica Opemo, Hon. Tim Wanyonyi, Fred Wetang’ula, and Charles Wetang’ula.
Beyond his professional life, James was a devoted father, a caring husband, and a trusted adviser to many in the community. His life was marked by service, integrity, and a commitment to nurturing both family and society.
The Wetang’ula family has requested prayers and support as they mourn his passing, honour his achievements, and celebrate his enduring legacy. His influence as an educator and pillar of the community will be remembered for years to come.
