Tarmacking of Maii-ni–John Kagai road begins in Ting’ang’a

Tarmacking works on the Maii-ni to John Kagai Road in Ting’ang’a, Kiambu Town Constituency, have officially commenced, marking a major boost for infrastructure development in the area.

Engineers have already moved on site and begun the initial stages of the project, including land levelling in preparation for laying the tarmac. The works will also involve the installation of a proper drainage system to enhance durability and ensure the road remains accessible in all weather conditions.

The project is being implemented under the leadership of Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka as part of ongoing efforts to improve road networks within the constituency.

Once complete, the upgraded road is expected to significantly ease transport, reduce travel time and open up the area for increased economic activity. Local traders and residents say the development will improve connectivity and create new opportunities for businesses in Ting’ang’a and its surrounding areas.

Residents have welcomed the project, describing it as long overdue and transformative for the region. Many expressed optimism that the improved road will enhance access to markets, schools and health facilities.

“This is one of the most important projects for this area. It will change how we move and do business,” said a local resident, noting that poor road conditions have previously hindered transport, especially during rainy seasons.

The tarmacking of the Maii-ni–John Kagai road is part of a broader push by the area leadership to invest in infrastructure aimed at driving economic growth and improving living standards.

Waithaka has consistently prioritised road development across Kiambu Town Constituency, with several projects underway or in the pipeline to enhance mobility and support local enterprises.

Contractors on site have assured residents that the works will be carried out efficiently and within set timelines, while maintaining high construction standards. They have also emphasised the importance of proper drainage systems in preventing future damage and ensuring longevity of the road.

Leaders say the project reflects a commitment to delivering tangible development at the grassroots level, with a focus on projects that directly impact the daily lives of residents.

As construction progresses, stakeholders are optimistic that the road will soon transform the area into a more accessible and economically vibrant zone, reinforcing the role of infrastructure in unlocking local potential.
