Guinness World Record holder and environmental activist Truphena Muthoni has received a major boost after being awarded a full university scholarship by Mount Kenya University.
The scholarship was announced during an educational engagement at the institution, where MKU Principal for Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations, Prof. Peter Wanderi, confirmed that the university will fully finance Truphena’s studies in a course of her choice, alongside any necessary academic support.
The recognition follows her widely celebrated 72-hour tree-hugging conservation feat, which highlighted the urgency of climate action and environmental protection.
Truphena said the opportunity will allow her to gain formal knowledge to strengthen her advocacy, inspire young people and develop lasting solutions to environmental challenges in Kenya and across Africa.
