The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced revised dates for its internal nominations in three county assembly wards ahead of the February 26, 2026, by-elections.
The party’s National Elections Board (NEB), chaired by Anthony Mwaura, confirmed the changes on January 6, affecting Evurore and Muminji wards in Embu County, and West Kabras Ward in Kakamega County.
Nominations will now be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, with winning aspirants going forward to contest the by-elections. Party Polling Centre elections, aimed at electing local officials and consolidating grassroots structures, are scheduled for Saturday, January 17, 2026, in the same wards.
NEB emphasized that all participants must adhere to the UDA Constitution, party nomination rules, the Political Parties Act 2011 (as amended), and IEBC guidelines. Aspirants and party members are expected to maintain discipline and respect all directives during the nomination and polling processes.
The vacancies arose after Newton Kariuki and Duncan Mbui resigned from Embu wards to contest parliamentary seats, and David Ndakwa vacated West Kabras Ward after being elected MP for Malava Constituency. UDA leaders expressed confidence in retaining the three wards, citing recent successes in the region.
