Uhuru Kenyatta calls special jubilee party conference to realign leadership and chart political future

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has summoned Jubilee Party delegates to a special National Delegates Conference (NDC) on September 26, as the former ruling party moves to restructure its leadership and reposition itself politically.

In a notice dated September 3, Uhuru, who also serves as the party leader, confirmed that the NDC will be held at the Jockey Club, Ngong Racecourse, Nairobi, starting at 8 a.m.

The meeting’s agenda includes receiving a status report from the National Executive Committee (NEC), reviewing and approving the party’s constitution, structures, policies, and programmes, as well as discussing other matters critical to Jubilee’s future.

This special sitting comes just weeks after Uhuru chaired a virtual NEC meeting—the first since a High Court ruling reinstated his leadership team, including Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni and Vice-Chair David Murathe. The decision ended a protracted battle with a rival faction led by Kanini Kega and Sabina Chege.

The NDC is expected to strengthen Jubilee’s position on the political stage and spark fresh debate over potential alliances with parties that align with its ‘Mbele Pamoja’ agenda.
