Ulinzi Stars captain Boniface Muchiri has been promoted to the rank of corporal in the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) following his standout performance for Harambee Stars at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The promotion from senior private was conferred by Chief of the Defense Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri on August 27, 2025.
General Kahariri hailed Muchiri’s discipline, service, and dedication, both as a soldier and as a national footballer.
“We are very grateful for your commitment, hard work, and excellent performance while serving Kenya and, by extension, the KDF. We wish you success in future assignments and are confident you will continue to excel,” said the General.
Report on Ulinzi Stars FC Presented
During the same ceremony, General Kahariri received an interim report on Ulinzi Stars Football Club’s performance between 2020 and 2025.
The report, presented by Brigadier Ahmed Saman, assessed coaching, player welfare, recruitment, administrative support, and training. It also reviewed the adequacy of facilities, equipment, and overall support infrastructure.
Benchmarking against successful football clubs was incorporated to highlight best practices, while the report also recommended short- and long-term measures to strengthen competitiveness and management.
General Kahariri assured the KDF’s full support in implementing the findings, stressing that Ulinzi Stars must remain competitive while upholding the values and discipline of the Defence Forces.
The event was attended by Vice Chief of the Defense Forces Lieutenant General John Omenda, Director of Personnel and Logistics Major General Edward Rugendo, senior officers, service members, and players of Ulinzi Stars FC.
