Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority draws huge turnout in Thika as residents rush to verify long-lost funds this week

Thika Stadium on Tuesday hosted a massive turnout of residents seeking to verify and claim unclaimed financial assets during a five-day outreach by the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA).

The exercise, which runs until Friday, is led by UFAA Chief Executive Officer Laban Molonko and brings together several service providers to ease the verification process for individuals reclaiming assets belonging to themselves, their parents or deceased relatives.

According to UFAA, the authority is currently holding more than Ksh 67 billion in unclaimed assets Ksh 44 billion in cash and an additional Ksh 23 billion in shares awaiting collection by rightful owners.

Molonko revealed that the authority has already disbursed over Ksh 2 million within the first two days, signalling increasing public awareness and faster processing.

Among the beneficiaries was Joseph Karanja, who accompanied his elderly father to the event and discovered unclaimed funds listed under his father’s name, prompting an immediate application.

UFAA is encouraging residents of Thika and nearby areas to take advantage of the ongoing outreach and visit Thika Stadium before the close of the exercise on Friday to check whether they have dormant assets due for collection.
