Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has called on universities to begin early preparations for the first cohort of Competency-Based Education (CBE) students expected to join higher learning institutions in 2029.
Speaking during Kisii University’s 14th graduation ceremony, CS Ogamba said universities must align their academic programmes with the CBE framework in collaboration with the Commission for University Education to ensure a smooth transition.
He also urged university managements to strengthen internal revenue generation to enhance financial sustainability.
During the ceremony, Kisii University graduated 4,018 students, including its first cohort of 24 medical doctors, reflecting the institution’s growing focus on healthcare training, research and specialized medical education.
