Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has inspected the ongoing construction of Kangangi Market in Kiambu Town, a project being implemented through a partnership between the national government and the Kiambu County Government.
The modern market is expected to provide decent and organised trading space for about 2,000 traders who previously operated within existing markets and along streets in the town.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Wamatangi said the project aims to improve working conditions for small-scale traders while enhancing order and accessibility within Kiambu Town’s business environment.
Once completed, the facility will offer structured stalls and a safer environment designed to support biashara growth and ease congestion that has long affected informal traders.
The collaboration between the two levels of government underscores efforts to strengthen local trade infrastructure and empower small businesses, which form a significant part of the county’s economy.
The Kangangi Market project is among initiatives aimed at boosting economic activity and restoring dignity to traders through improved public market facilities.
