The Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation has strengthened its partnership with the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) following a high-level meeting between Cabinet Secretary Eric Mugaa and the institution’s top leadership on Wednesday in Nairobi.
KEWI Governing Council Chairperson Patrick Musili Mbangula and CEO Dr. Leiro Letangule paid a courtesy call to the CS, where they highlighted the institute’s progress in boosting training, research and consultancy services across the water, sanitation and irrigation sectors.
The briefing also touched on KEWI’s upcoming graduation ceremony, scheduled for Friday, 28th November 2025, which will see a new cohort of graduates enter the workforce at a time when demand for skilled professionals continues to rise.
The officials outlined milestones aimed at supporting Kenya’s long-term goals of food security, improved water access and strengthened environmental management.
CS Mugaa reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to deepening collaboration with KEWI, noting that the institute plays a crucial role in equipping the country with experts who can drive sustainable development. He added that such partnerships are vital in ensuring clean water access, efficient irrigation systems and improved sanitation services for communities across the country.
