UDA announces January nominations for Isiolo South MP and ward by-elections

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has opened its January 2026 nomination process as it gears up for upcoming by-elections in Isiolo, Embu and Kakamega counties.

In a notice dated December 23 and signed by National Elections Board chairman Anthony Mwaura, the ruling party announced that nominations will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026. The exercise will cover the Isiolo South parliamentary seat, alongside Muminji and Evuore wards in Embu’s Mbeere North constituency and West Kabras ward in Kakamega’s Malava constituency.

The Isiolo South seat fell vacant earlier this month after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission declared a by-election. The three ward seats became vacant after sitting MCAs resigned to contest parliamentary positions.

UDA has directed interested aspirants to apply through its online portal between December 23 and December 31, 2025. Nomination fees for the parliamentary seat have been set at Ksh250,000 for male aspirants, while women, youth and persons with disabilities will pay Ksh125,000. MCA aspirants will pay Ksh50,000 for men and Ksh25,000 for women, youth and PWD candidates.

With the nomination date confirmed, political activity is expected to intensify in the affected areas ahead of the February 26 by-elections.
