The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has issued a public warning advising members and the general public not to engage Ezekiel Mutua, stating he no longer holds any position or authority within the organisation.
In a notice dated January 12, 2026, MCSK’s board of directors said Mutua has continued to present himself as the society’s Chief Executive Officer despite his dismissal, creating confusion among members, partners and stakeholders.
The board noted that Mutua was dismissed from his role on April 3, 2025, a decision that was later upheld by two High Court rulings in May 2025 after being challenged.
MCSK cautioned that Mutua has no mandate to transact or represent the society in any capacity. The organisation further disclaimed liability for any losses or damages incurred by individuals or entities engaging him in MCSK’s name.
Mutua was appointed MCSK CEO in March 2022, having previously served as CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board.
