Kiambaa Constituency has taken a major step toward inclusive healthcare and social protection. MP John Kawanjiku, in collaboration with the Social Health Authority (SHA), facilitated the registration of Community Health Promoters (CHPs), Nyumba Kumi leaders, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) who had not previously been enrolled in the national health insurance program.
The initiative ensures that all enrolled members will have their annual health insurance fully covered, relieving families of medical costs and promoting access to essential healthcare services. Kawanjiku emphasized that healthcare is a right for every resident and that sustainable development begins with supporting every member of the community.
“This program reflects our commitment to inclusion, dignity, and social protection. No one in our constituency should be left behind,” said Kawanjiku.
The registration exercise also highlights the critical roles of CHPs and Nyumba Kumi leaders in promoting health awareness, community safety, and grassroots development. PWDs, often marginalized in social services, now have an opportunity to access healthcare with ease, furthering their participation in economic and social life.
Kawanjiku’s office noted that the program is part of a broader effort to strengthen community welfare, recognizing that empowering local leaders and vulnerable groups directly contributes to sustainable growth and improved quality of life across Kiambaa.
Residents and community leaders have welcomed the move, praising the MP for taking a proactive approach to inclusive development and emphasizing that similar initiatives will continue to be a priority in the constituency.
