Murkomen, Sudi, Kururia linked to Ksh 20 billion Runda land saga

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia have been drawn into a developing controversy over an alleged Ksh 20 billion land dispute, even as the government moves to dismiss the claims.

The allegations, which surfaced in a section of the local media, linked the three leaders to a high-value land transaction said to involve prime property. The reports quickly sparked public debate, given the scale of the amount involved and the senior political profiles of those named.

However, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration has strongly rejected the claims, terming them false and misleading. In a statement issued on April 22, the ministry said CS Murkomen had been wrongly implicated in what it described as unverified allegations circulating in the media.

“The attention of the Cabinet Secretary has been drawn to the wild and false allegations purporting to link him to a land dispute. These claims are based on rumour and conjecture,” the ministry stated.

The ministry further condemned the publication of the claims, insisting that there was no factual basis to support the allegations and warning against the spread of unverified information.

While the reports also mentioned MPs Sudi and Kururia, there has been no official confirmation from investigative agencies linking the leaders to any wrongdoing. As of now, no court findings or formal charges have been presented in relation to the matter.

Land disputes remain a sensitive issue in Kenya, often involving complex ownership histories, competing claims, and legal battles that can take years to resolve. Cases involving high-value urban land tend to attract heightened scrutiny due to their economic and political implications.

The latest claims have emerged at a time when authorities have repeatedly warned about the rise of land fraud and illegal acquisition of property across the country. In previous statements, CS Murkomen himself has raised concerns over land grabbing syndicates, describing them as a threat to security and public trust.

Observers say the unfolding situation highlights the need for due process, transparency, and reliance on verified information as investigations, if any, take shape.

For now, the matter remains a developing story, with Kenyans ожидаing further clarity from relevant authorities.
