Governor Wamatangi Boosts Dairy Sector and Education Support in Gatundu South

In a move aimed at bolstering agricultural value addition and supporting education initiatives, Governor Wamatangi delivered a vital piece of infrastructure to the Ndarugu Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society in Ndarugu Ward.

Accompanied by local officials and stakeholders, Governor Wamatangi oversaw the installation of a state-of-the-art milk cooler at the Ndarugu Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society. This installation marks a significant step in the county’s efforts to enhance the dairy sector’s productivity and efficiency. Speaking at the event, Governor Wamatangi emphasized the importance of such initiatives in driving economic growth and sustainability within the agricultural sub-sector.

“The provision of this milk cooler is part of our broader strategy to promote value addition in agriculture, particularly in dairy farming,” Governor Wamatangi stated. “By improving the storage and preservation capabilities of local cooperatives like Ndarugu, we empower our farmers to produce higher-quality dairy products and access broader markets.”

The governor further highlighted the county government’s commitment to supporting local farmers and cooperatives through targeted investments in infrastructure and technology.

In addition to the dairy sector support, Governor Wamatangi’s administration also disbursed bursary cheques to beneficiaries of the county government’s bursary programme. Under this programme, each student received financial support ranging from Sh5,000 to Sh10,000. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on families and ensure that students can access quality education without undue financial strain.

During the cheque issuance ceremony, Governor Wamatangi reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to education as a fundamental pillar of development. He underscored the importance of investing in the youth and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to pursue their educational aspirations.
