Governor Kang’ata injured during Nairobi meeting, will rest one month

Murang’a County Governor Irungu Kang’ata sustained a heel tendon injury on Wednesday, February 18, while attending a Nutrition International meeting in Nairobi, the county has confirmed.

The injury will keep the governor away from physical office engagements for approximately one month. Governor Kang’ata is currently receiving treatment and has been advised to avoid strenuous activities to allow full recovery.

During his absence, Deputy Governor Stephen Munania will represent the governor in official functions requiring physical presence. County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Prof. Kiari, will also handle assigned duties as needed to maintain seamless service delivery.

Despite the temporary absence, Governor Kang’ata will continue to participate in official meetings virtually starting next week to ensure continuity of governance.

The county expressed gratitude to residents for their support and well-wishes and reassured the public that operations, including key projects like the operationalisation of Mabae and Karinga Dispensaries, will proceed without disruption.

The statement emphasized that under the Constitution, executive authority remains functional through delegated leadership, ensuring that essential services and development initiatives continue uninterrupted.
