The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched investigations into the reported disappearance of former Cabinet Minister Raphael Tuju, following a missing person report filed at Karen Police Station.
According to a press statement issued by the agency, Tuju was reported missing by his family on March 22, raising concern among authorities and the public. His motor vehicle was later discovered abandoned along Miotoni Lane in Karen, with its hazard lights still on, prompting immediate police response.
A security guard from a nearby institution is said to have alerted authorities after noticing the suspiciously parked vehicle. Officers from Karen Police Station swiftly responded to the scene, which was later processed by crime scene investigators. The vehicle has since been towed to the station to allow for further forensic examination.
DCI says efforts to reach Tuju have so far been unsuccessful, with his mobile phone remaining switched off. Investigators have since deployed a specialised team to handle the matter, working in coordination with other government agencies to establish his whereabouts and determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
While investigations are ongoing, the agency revealed that attempts by detectives to access Tuju’s residence along Mwitu Drive were unsuccessful after being denied entry by family members. Authorities have now appealed for cooperation from all involved parties, stressing the importance of granting access to key locations and providing relevant information that could assist in resolving the case.
The DCI has also called on members of the public who may have information about Tuju’s movements or any suspicious activity in the Miotoni Lane area to come forward. The agency urged anyone who may have seen him, his vehicle, or anything unusual before or after March 21 to share information through its toll-free hotline, WhatsApp number, or by reporting to the nearest police station.
Investigators maintain that all available resources and modern investigative techniques are being utilised to uncover the truth behind the incident.
The case has sparked public interest, with many Kenyans closely following developments as authorities intensify efforts to locate Tuju. The DCI has assured the public that updates will be provided as soon as significant progress is made in the ongoing investigation.
