KaWanjiku launches classrooms project at Muthurwa

Kiambaa Member of Parliament John KaWanjiku has launched a major infrastructure upgrade at Muthurwa Comprehensive School, marking a new chapter for an institution that has long struggled with poor learning conditions.

The school, which has for years operated in a dilapidated state, is now set to benefit from the construction of 15 modern classrooms in a two-storey complex. The project, officially launched this week, is expected to significantly improve the learning environment for students and ease congestion in existing facilities.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, KaWanjiku said the initiative is part of his broader commitment to transform education standards within Kiambaa Constituency. He noted that improving school infrastructure is key to restoring dignity in public education and ensuring learners can study in safe and conducive environments.

“For years, this school has not reflected the standards our children deserve. Today, we begin a new journey to change that story,” the MP said.

The planned classrooms are designed to meet modern education standards, with the aim of enhancing both teaching and learning experiences. Once completed, the facility is expected to accommodate more students and provide a structured environment that supports academic performance.

In addition to the classrooms, the project will also include cabro installation within the school compound. According to the MP, this will improve accessibility, reduce dust and mud, and create a cleaner and more organised learning space for both students and teachers.

Education stakeholders and local leaders who attended the event welcomed the move, noting that infrastructure challenges have been a major setback for many public schools in the area. They expressed optimism that the project will not only uplift Muthurwa Comprehensive School but also serve as a model for similar initiatives across the constituency.

Parents and residents have also lauded the development, saying it reflects a renewed focus on education and the welfare of learners. Many expressed hope that the improvements will motivate students and contribute to better academic outcomes.

KaWanjiku emphasised that the project is just the beginning of a wider plan to invest in education and community development in Kiambaa. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind due to poor infrastructure or lack of resources.

As construction gets underway, the project stands as a significant step towards transforming the education landscape in the area and securing a brighter future for learners.
