Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta Surprises Church with Sh1 Million Christmas Donation

Faithful at JCM Church in Ruiru, Kiambu County, were in for a delightful surprise when retired President Uhuru Kenyatta called in to announce a Sh1 million Christmas donation. While not physically present at the church, Uhuru’s phone call, broadcasted over the loudspeaker, sent cheers erupting through the congregation.

“I was informed that you’re having a party for those who might not be able to provide for themselves during these difficult times,” Uhuru said. “I couldn’t abandon our people. Whatever you’re doing, I’ll top it up. I’ve sent Sh1 million so you can buy more unga for the people. Happy holidays to you all and your families, and may God solve the problems we’re going through.”

The unexpected gesture of generosity resonated deeply with the churchgoers, who responded with enthusiastic applause and grateful cheers. Uhuru further promised to visit the church for worship sometime next year, solidifying his commitment to the community.

Leaders Spreading Christmas Cheer

Uhuru’s act of kindness aligns with a broader trend of Kenyan leaders connecting with the people at the grassroots level during the festive season. President William Ruto also embraced the spirit of giving, welcoming residents to his Sugoi home in Uasin Gishu County for a Christmas celebration.

Long queues of joyful residents snaked through the grounds as they received festive packages containing wheat flour, cooking oil, and rice. The Ruto family’s open house initiative served as a heartwarming reminder of the importance of community and shared joy during the holiday season.

A Season of Hope and Renewal

These acts of generosity from prominent figures in Kenyan society offer a beacon of hope and renewal during a time of economic hardship. The Christmas spirit of giving and togetherness shines brightly as leaders reach out to those in need, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose within the community.

As Kenyans celebrate Christmas, these acts of kindness serve as a reminder of the importance of compassion, empathy, and the power of human connection. Let us carry this spirit of giving and goodwill into the new year, working together to create a brighter future for all.
