The High Court has barred businessman Kung’u Muigai from publishing or making any further defamatory remarks against Supreme Court Judge, Justice Isaac Lenaola.
Justice Nixon Sifuna, in a ruling delivered on Tuesday, issued interim injunctions restraining Muigai or his associates from circulating statements deemed defamatory against the judge.
The orders followed an urgent application filed by Justice Lenaola, who accused Muigai of making false, scandalous, and malicious allegations during interviews on September 8 and 12, 2025. The remarks, later widely shared online, linked Lenaola and other senior judges to corruption and the death of lawyer Kyalo Mbobu.
Despite being served with a demand notice, Muigai allegedly continued issuing fresh interviews, repeating the claims and daring the judge to sue.
Justice Lenaola argued the attacks damaged his reputation and threatened public trust in the Judiciary.
Justice Sifuna directed that the application be served within two days, with responses due within five days. The matter will proceed through written submissions, with further directions expected on October 13, 2025.
