The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a new weekly advisory, forecasting light to moderate rainfall in Kiambu and other Central Highlands counties, despite much of the country remaining dry and sunny.
According to the advisory, rainfall is expected in Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, and Nairobi, with a pattern of morning drizzles, sunny afternoons, and evening showers. The Lake Victoria Basin, Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, the Coast, and South-eastern Lowlands are also set to experience rain in varying amounts.
The department cautioned that very cold nights, with temperatures dipping below 10°C, will affect the Central Highlands, parts of the Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Daytime temperatures above 30°C are forecast in coastal, north-eastern, and north-western regions, as well as parts of the South-eastern Lowlands and Rift Valley.
Officials urge residents in affected areas, particularly farmers and commuters, to plan for fluctuating weather conditions as Kenya experiences irregular short rains this season.
