Murang’a Governor Dr. Irungu Kang’ata has called on government agencies, NGOs, and development partners to deepen their collaboration in strengthening healthcare delivery across the county.
Speaking during the Health NGOs Network (HENNET) Forum at the KICD Conference Hall, the Governor addressed stakeholders attending the network’s 18th Annual General Meeting, where discussions focused on funding equitable healthcare access and supporting the operationalization of health facilities across Kenya.
Kang’ata highlighted the progress made under his administration, citing flagship initiatives such as Kang’atacare Health Insurance, telemedicine services, mobile dialysis units, and the ongoing upgrade of health infrastructure in public facilities.
He noted that Murang’a has fully digitized all 157 health facilities, a shift he described as transformative in improving service delivery. According to the Governor, digital systems have helped reduce queues, enhanced disease-tracking across facilities, and strengthened oversight on medicine use.
Kang’ata urged partners to embrace technology as a key driver of efficient and equitable healthcare while exploring opportunities like local manufacturing to reduce the cost of essential health commodities.
He affirmed that his administration remains committed to expanding access to quality healthcare and working closely with stakeholders to sustain the county’s reforms.
