Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja of orchestrating unrest at Kariobangi North PCEA church following the recent by-election.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony for newly elected MCA David Warui, Gachagua alleged that the government deployed goons and police to intimidate residents who did not vote for UDA candidates.
“We have reached a point where William Ruto wants to force us to support him through intimidation. He has sent goons and police to assault the people of Kariobangi North simply because they did not elect a UDA candidate,” Gachagua said.
He linked the unrest to DCP’s victory in Kariobangi North, emphasizing that the election outcome reflected public dissatisfaction with the current government.
Gachagua also addressed Governor Sakaja, questioning why he allowed government forces to harass his own constituents despite their support. He warned that attempts to force political loyalty would not succeed in Nairobi or Mt. Kenya, citing past failures in other regions.
The DCP leader praised the Maa community for supporting his party, highlighting the party’s wins in Kariobangi North, Narok Town, and Kisa East.
