The High Court has ordered former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his wife, Susan Wangari, to personally appear in court on Friday, December 19, when judgment in a Ksh1.9 billion asset recovery case will be delivered.
Justice Nixon Sifuna issued the directive after the couple failed, for the second time, to attend court on scheduled judgment dates, warning that further delays would not be tolerated.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is seeking forfeiture of assets it claims were unlawfully acquired between 2015 and 2020 during Waititu’s tenure as Kabete MP and later Kiambu governor.
EACC alleges abuse of office, fraudulent procurement and unexplained wealth accumulation. Waititu and his wife deny the claims, insisting the assets were lawfully acquired.
