A Family in Kabete Pleads for Justice After Their Sister’s Brutal Murder

A family in Kabete is grieving and calling for justice after Naomi Chebet’s life was tragically cut short under highly suspicious circumstances. Naomi, a young woman from the area, was found dead in her rented home on Sunday morning, March 23. An autopsy later confirmed that she had been brutally stabbed twice in the back of her head. Naomi’s ex-husband, Samuel Njoroge, is the primary suspect in the case and remains on the run.

On the evening of Saturday, March 22, Naomi and Samuel entered her home around 9 p.m., as witnessed by a neighbour. Samuel had recently reconciled with Naomi in early March after a period of separation. The couple lived together in the house alongside Naomi’s brother, Harrison.

Later that night, Harrison returned home from his night shift between midnight and 1 a.m. He found Naomi resting on the couch, covered with a blanket, and assumed she was asleep. Unaware of the tragedy, he left her undisturbed.

Around 4:30 a.m., the same neighbor saw Samuel leaving the house wearing a mask. His sudden disappearance raised suspicions, as he did not return home that night or in the days that followed.

The following morning, Harrison tried to wake Naomi as he prepared for work. To his horror, he realized she had been dead for hours. In shock, Harrison rushed to the Kabete Police Station to report his sister’s death.

An autopsy at Chiromo Mortuary revealed the brutal extent of Naomi’s injuries. She had suffered two stab wounds to the back of her head, a hammer-induced injury to the top of her head, compression marks on her throat, and a fractured left eye socket. However, the absence of blood or signs of a struggle at the scene deepened the mystery surrounding her death.

Disturbing Evidence

Investigators uncovered alarming evidence linking Samuel to the murder. On Sunday, Samuel reportedly posted an abusive message on Facebook, declaring, “You die and leave me alone, you prostitute.” Later, he sent a message to an unnamed individual, admitting his involvement and saying, “I killed her because of nonsense, why did she answer me?” Authorities tracked his last known location to Githurai 45 on Monday, but his current whereabouts remain unknown.

Naomi’s devastated family is urging the government to intensify its efforts to apprehend Samuel and bring him to justice. “We are deeply saddened. We need justice for our sister. The person who did this is still out there hiding,” said Ben Koech, Naomi’s brother.

As of the time of this report, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has not provided updates on Samuel’s location. Meanwhile, Naomi’s family and the community continue to mourn her loss and await justice for the heinous crime.
