Authorities in Kamirithu, Kiambu, are investigating the tragic death of 27-year-old Joseph Njuguna Mwaura, who was found electrocuted in his home. Mwaura had been reported missing since the morning of August 18, and his body was discovered on August 20.
According to police reports, Mwaura’s body was found lying on the floor of his room, with visible burn marks on his backside and left eye. The initial findings suggest that he was electrocuted by a live electric wire hanging from an open switch.
Mwaura’s family had been searching for him in various locations, unaware that he was in his house. After repeated attempts to contact him failed, they eventually decided to check his residence, where they made the grim discovery.
Kiambu Police Boss Michael Muchiri confirmed that Mwaura’s body was moved to the mortuary for a postmortem and further investigation. “For now, the burns suggest electrocution, but we are conducting a thorough investigation to confirm the cause of death,” Muchiri said.
Police revisited the scene on Tuesday afternoon as part of their ongoing probe. The case highlights significant concerns about electrical safety in residential areas and the importance of regular maintenance and inspection of electrical installations.
