The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced temporary traffic interruptions along the Thika Superhighway (A2) to facilitate construction work. The disruptions will affect the inner lane of Thika-bound traffic at Juja High Point from Wednesday, July 10, 2024, to Monday, July 15, 2024.
KeNHA has stated that the interruption is necessary to allow for the construction of a mid-span footbridge foundation. In a notice dated Tuesday, July 9, 2024, KeNHA informed the public of the planned disruptions and advised motorists to adhere to the proposed traffic management plan.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Thika Superhighway (A2) at Juja High Point will experience traffic disruption on the inner lane of Thika-bound traffic from Wednesday, July 10, 2024, to Monday, July 15, 2024. This is to allow for the construction of the mid-span footbridge foundation,” read the notice in part.
Motorists traveling to Thika from Nairobi should expect the inner lane around Juja High Point to be closed, with a slight diversion to other lanes. KeNHA has urged motorists to exercise caution when approaching the area and to cooperate with police and traffic marshals on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize inconvenience.
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the road agency added.
The construction work is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, July 10, and continue until Monday, July 15. KeNHA has assured the public that measures have been put in place to manage traffic effectively during this period.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays and to be mindful of the ongoing construction work to ensure their safety and that of the construction workers.
