The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) and Kenya Urban Road Authority (KURA) have announced temporary traffic disruptions along three roads in Kiambu County. These disruptions will occur on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The affected roads are as follows:
- Ruiru-Kamiti Road
- Ngenda Road
- Ruiru-Githunguri Road
Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes during this period to avoid delays. Traffic police will be present on-site to facilitate smooth traffic flow during the event.
The warm-up run, hosted at Tatu City will feature various race distances, including 5km, 10km, and 21km. Tatu City provides a safe, secure, and scenic environment equipped with extensive tarmacked roads, tracks, and trails, making it ideal for high-profile sporting events.
Beyond the race, participants and spectators can enjoy additional entertainment options, such as live music performances by top Kenyan artists. Families can explore the kid’s zone with fun activities, and there will be a designated food and drinks area.
Awards will be presented in various categories, including the fastest runners, best represented running club, most lively group, and recognition for the youngest and oldest participants. The prize pool for these awards exceeds Ksh1.5 million.
Importantly, the event goes beyond the finish line. Registration fees contribute to the renovation of Oaklands Primary School in Kiambu County and support the research and advocacy efforts of Huntington’s Disease Africa (HDA).
