A family in Kamirithu village, Limuru is grieving the loss of seven members killed in a horrific road accident. The victims include three brothers and three children of one of the brothers.
The accident which occurred at High Peak near Naivasha Town along Mai Mahiu-Naivasha Road. The family was returning home after attending a relative’s funeral. The tragedy has left the community struggling to cope with the loss.
Esther Wambui Kirubi, a sister to the deceased, narrowly escaped the accident. She shared that her brother had asked her to stay behind instead of traveling with them. “I was supposed to return with them,” she said, “but he insisted I stay behind.”
Felista Njeri, the widow of one of the deceased, lost her husband and three children. She was hospitalized after receiving the devastating news.
Hannah Wanjiku, a family worker who lost her son in the accident, decided to delay his burial. She expressed her wish to let the family bury the other six members first. “I’ve decided to bury mine last because it’s a huge burden,” she said.
