Limuru MP John Kiragu transforms Rongai School with major upgrades

Limuru MP John Kiragu Chege has overseen a remarkable transformation at Rongai School, turning the once dilapidated institution into a modern centre of learning for local students. The initiative, funded through the Limuru NG-CDF, reflects Chege’s commitment to improving education and creating conducive learning environments across his constituency.

All classrooms at Rongai School were renovated, with plastered walls, tiled floors, secure metallic doors, replaced windows, and new iron sheet roofing. These upgrades aim to provide learners with a safe, clean, and comfortable environment that supports academic excellence and holistic development.

In addition, the school’s administration block underwent a full upgrade to improve operational efficiency and provide adequate office space for staff. A modern Junior Secondary School laboratory was also constructed, designed to support the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) by equipping students with practical scientific skills. The laboratory will enable learners to engage in hands-on experiments, fostering critical thinking and creativity.

Chege emphasised that the Rongai School project is part of a broader strategy to ensure sustainable improvements in education across Limuru. “Education is the foundation of our future, and we must provide students with the tools, facilities, and environment that allow them to thrive,” he said.

The MP also highlighted that the success of the project relied on active participation from the school management, teaching staff, and the community, demonstrating that collaborative efforts yield tangible results. “This is not just a project for today; it is a long-term investment in the children of Limuru,” he added.

Parents and students have welcomed the improvements, noting that the upgraded facilities have boosted morale, attendance, and learning outcomes. School administrators have expressed confidence that the modern laboratory and refurbished classrooms will enhance performance in national examinations and provide students with skills relevant for higher education and future careers.

Beyond Rongai School, Chege’s NG-CDF interventions have focused on other education initiatives, including provision of desks, library resources, sanitation facilities, and support for extra-curricular programs. These efforts underline his vision of transforming Limuru’s schools into centres of excellence, ensuring that every learner has access to quality education and a dignified learning experience.

The Rongai School project stands as a testament to what sustained investment, proper planning, and strong leadership can achieve in uplifting education standards in Kenya’s constituencies.
