Wamatangi praises Kiambu clean-up participation

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has commended residents, traders, youth and stakeholders for their active participation in a recent countywide clean-up exercise aimed at improving sanitation and environmental conservation.

In a statement following the exercise, the governor expressed appreciation to all who turned up, describing the initiative as a strong demonstration of unity and shared responsibility among Kiambu residents.

The clean-up brought together a wide range of participants, including community groups, business owners, institutions and members of the public, all working collectively to enhance cleanliness in their respective areas.

Governor Wamatangi noted that the success of the exercise reflects growing awareness among residents on the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He emphasised that such collective action is key in promoting public health and improving the overall quality of life.

“This initiative has shown that when wananchi come together, we can achieve a cleaner and safer environment for everyone,” he said.

The governor further highlighted that environmental cleanliness is not only a government responsibility but a shared duty that requires continuous engagement from all sectors of society.

Participants in the exercise were seen clearing waste, unclogging drainage systems and restoring public spaces, in what many described as a meaningful and impactful activity for the community.

Local leaders who took part in the exercise echoed the governor’s sentiments, noting that regular clean-up initiatives can help reduce the spread of diseases and create more organised urban centres.

Residents who participated also expressed pride in contributing to the initiative, saying it provided an opportunity to take ownership of their environment and work together towards a common goal.

The county government has in recent months intensified its focus on environmental sustainability, with clean-up exercises forming part of a broader strategy to improve sanitation and waste management.

Governor Wamatangi encouraged residents to maintain the momentum by adopting responsible waste disposal practices and supporting future initiatives.

He stressed that sustained efforts will be critical in ensuring that the gains made during the clean-up are not reversed.

The exercise is expected to be part of ongoing county programmes aimed at promoting hygiene, environmental protection and community involvement in development.

As Kiambu continues to grow, leaders say maintaining cleanliness will remain a top priority in ensuring a healthy and dignified living environment for all residents.
