Salome Wanjiru, accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend, Conrad Nyabuto, 27 times, has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against her.
The incident occurred on December 17, 2024, in the Kamakis area of Ruiru, where Nyabuto tragically succumbed to multiple stab wounds. Wanjiru appeared before Justice Florence Muchemi at the Thika High Court yesterday, where she formally denied any involvement in his death.
Court documents reveal a gruesome scene, with police investigations uncovering evidence allegedly linking Wanjiru to the crime. Nyabuto, who resided in Nairobi’s Saika Estate, reportedly visited Wanjiru that night to discuss issues within their relationship. However, the meeting tragically escalated, leading to a fatal altercation.
Nyabuto’s family, deeply grieving their loss, expressed frustration over the perceived slow pace of justice. Speaking to the media, Conrad’s father lamented, “He went in a very painful way. Twenty-seven stab wounds is not self-defense. That is like you are killing a very dangerous wild animal.” He further accused influential individuals within the government of interfering with the investigation.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Justice Muchemi granted Wanjiru a bond of KSh 300,000, allowing her temporary release pending further court hearings. “Considering the circumstances of the case and the submissions made, I hereby grant the accused a bond of KSh 300,000 pending the hearing of this matter,” said Justice Muchemi. Wanjiru’s legal team has expressed confidence in proving her innocence during the trial.
The case has garnered significant public attention, with the community seeking answers to the tragic death of Nyabuto. The prosecution is now preparing to present its case, with key witnesses expected to testify in the coming weeks.
The Nyabuto family continues to demand swift and transparent legal action, urging authorities to deliver justice for their beloved son.
