A section of Wiper Party Members of Parliament has warned President William Ruto against continued public attacks on party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, saying the opposition will remain focused on its 2027 political agenda.
The MPs, largely from Kitui County, said President Ruto’s remarks targeting Kalonzo amount to unnecessary political insults, insisting their leader prefers issue-based politics. Kitui Rural MP Mbooni Mwalika said the opposition’s priority is to offer Kenyans an alternative leadership path.
Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna noted that despite repeated attacks, Kalonzo has avoided personal exchanges, choosing instead to outline his plans for the country. Other leaders linked rising taxes and economic pressure to growing public dissatisfaction.
However, pro-government MPs from the region urged residents to back President Ruto’s re-election, arguing development follows political alignment. The exchanges underline deepening political divisions as early 2027 campaigns take shape.
