Kiambu County Government Empowers Farmers and Students in Nachu Area

In a bid to enhance agricultural productivity and support education, the Kiambu County Government has distributed certified maize seeds, fertilizer, and avocado seedlings to more than 5,000 farmers in Kikuyu Sub-County, Nachu area. This initiative is part of the county’s ongoing efforts in socio-economic empowerment and aims to bolster the agricultural sector within the region.

Additionally, the county government issued bursary cheques to beneficiaries of its scholarship program. Each student received financial support ranging from Sh5,000 to Sh10,000 to cater for their school fees, underscoring the administration’s commitment to education as a key pillar of development.

During the distribution event, which was attended by local leaders and stakeholders, including area Member of County Assembly Hon. Fr. George Kimani and several other MCAs from across the county, various developmental projects were highlighted. These projects included the completion of the Gathiru and Gatune model Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres, with plans underway for the construction of Kanyiha, Ndiguine, and Kanyayo ECDE centres to further improve access to early childhood education in the area.

Moreover, significant strides have been made in water infrastructure development, with the completion of the Maregeta and Mbombo-ini water projects, as well as the ongoing Kanyayo water project. Once completed, these projects are expected to benefit residents in Kanyayo, Kamangu, and Migumo-ini areas by providing reliable access to clean water.

In his remarks, Hon. Fr. George Kimani expressed gratitude on behalf of the local community, emphasizing the positive impact of these initiatives on livelihoods and educational outcomes. He commended the county government’s proactive approach in addressing the needs of its constituents and pledged continued support for such developmental endeavors.

The event underscored the collaborative efforts between the county government and local leadership in fostering sustainable development across Kiambu County. As the administration continues to prioritize community-driven projects and initiatives, residents remain optimistic about the future prospects of growth and prosperity in the region.
