Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has expressed support for President William Ruto following the delivery of a milk cooling tank intended to benefit dairy farmers in the constituency.
The legislator revealed that she had received a 10,000-litre milk cooler tank which is now ready for operations and expected to support local dairy farmers by improving milk storage and handling.
According to Wamuchomba, the project had been promised by the President several times since 2023, but the implementation faced delays due to the absence of budgetary allocation in Parliament.
She explained that lawmakers later managed to address the funding gap during the previous budget cycle, paving the way for the delivery of the equipment.
The MP noted that the milk cooler will play a critical role in strengthening dairy farming in Githunguri, an area widely known for its vibrant milk production and cooperative movement.
Milk cooling infrastructure is essential in dairy value chains as it helps preserve milk quality and reduce losses caused by spoilage before the product reaches processing plants or markets.
Wamuchomba said the delivery of the cooler tank demonstrates the importance of cooperation between the national government and local leadership in supporting farmers and boosting agricultural productivity.
The legislator further indicated that her priority remains ensuring that residents of Githunguri benefit from government programmes and development projects.
She also outlined several development projects that she wants prioritised within the constituency, saying they would significantly improve infrastructure, economic activity and public services for residents.
Among the key projects she highlighted are the upgrading of the Kaaria–Lioki road, improvement of the Githunguri–Uplands road and construction of link roads within Githunguri town.
Wamuchomba also called for the completion of the Ngewa Market and the Githunguri Town Market, noting that modern market facilities would help boost trade and provide better working conditions for small-scale traders.
Another project she emphasised is the completion of the Githunguri Waruhiu Farm aggregation centre, which is expected to support farmers by providing a central point for collecting, processing and marketing agricultural produce.
The MP further urged the government to prioritise last-mile electricity connections to more than 2,500 households in the constituency, saying the project would significantly improve livelihoods by expanding access to reliable power.
She maintained that elected leaders have a responsibility to work with the government of the day to ensure development projects reach their constituencies.
According to Wamuchomba, her focus remains on delivering tangible benefits to the voters who elected her while advocating for key development projects that can improve the local economy.
