Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has unveiled her first quarter development scorecard for 2026, outlining key projects implemented across education, infrastructure and social support within the constituency.
In the update, the legislator highlighted a series of completed initiatives aimed at improving learning conditions, boosting local infrastructure and supporting vulnerable families through bursaries.
Among the notable achievements is the acquisition of a school bus for Githunguri Township School, a move expected to ease transport challenges for learners. The MP also oversaw the construction of new ablution blocks in several primary schools, including Gathaithi, Kiairia and Githima, aimed at improving sanitation and overall school environments.
In support of agriculture and household income, Wamuchomba facilitated the distribution of over 10,000 avocado seedlings to farmers across the constituency. The initiative is expected to promote agribusiness and enhance long-term economic sustainability for residents.
The education sector received a further boost through the delivery of 1,100 desks and chairs to 11 schools, helping to address shortages and improve classroom conditions. Additional support included the provision of dining tables to Mukua Secondary and Mukua Primary schools, enhancing student welfare.
The MP also reported the distribution of nine water storage tanks to schools and police posts, improving access to clean water in public institutions. A 10,000-litre milk cooler was also delivered, supporting local dairy farmers and strengthening value addition in the sector.
On infrastructure, several road projects were completed or upgraded, including the tarmacking of the Kibauini–Gathiruini road and improvements to key link roads such as Kiamwago–Kianwe, Munandaini–Gitombo and Gakure–Gwa Kariu. Recarpeting works were also carried out on the Kibichoi–Marige road to improve accessibility.
In addition, the constituency benefited from last-mile electricity connectivity in areas such as Gituamba and Githima, expanding access to power for households and businesses.
Wamuchomba further revealed that over 12,000 students received NG-CDF bursary cheques, easing the financial burden on families and supporting access to education.
The MP noted that the projects reflect her commitment to delivering tangible development outcomes and improving livelihoods across Githunguri.
Residents have welcomed the initiatives, with many expressing optimism that the continued focus on infrastructure, education and economic empowerment will drive growth in the area.
As the year progresses, attention now turns to the implementation of additional projects aimed at sustaining development momentum within the constituency.
