Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka oversees major Riara Primary facelift

Learners at Riara Primary School are set to return to a significantly improved learning environment following an extensive renovation project spearheaded by Kiambu Town Member of Parliament Machua Waithaka.

The school, which had been in a deteriorated condition, is undergoing a comprehensive facelift aimed at restoring dignity and creating a more conducive space for both learners and teachers. The transformation project reflects a growing focus on improving education infrastructure within Kiambu Constituency.

According to the MP, the renovation works are part of a broader commitment to ensure that every child has access to a safe and modern learning environment. He emphasized that quality education begins with proper facilities, adding that learners deserve spaces that motivate them to excel academically.

The ongoing upgrades include installation of new windows and doors, roofing works, and fitting of modern blackboards across classrooms. In addition, all classrooms are being tiled to enhance cleanliness and durability, while landscaping efforts are also underway to improve the overall appearance of the school compound.

A new, modern ablution block is also being constructed as part of the project, addressing a critical need for improved sanitation facilities within the institution. Education stakeholders have often highlighted the importance of proper sanitation in promoting student health, attendance, and overall well-being.

Residents and parents in Kiambu Town have welcomed the initiative, noting that the improvements will go a long way in enhancing the quality of education offered at the school. Many expressed optimism that the upgraded facilities will boost learners’ morale and create a more positive school experience.

The MP assured that the works are progressing as planned and will be completed in time for the next school term. He noted that when students resume classes in May, they will find a transformed institution that reflects modern standards and renewed commitment to education.

“This is about giving our children the environment they deserve. It is not a privilege but a right,” he reiterated.

The facelift is expected to not only improve the physical outlook of the school but also contribute to better academic performance by providing a comfortable and inspiring learning atmosphere.

As Kiambu continues to invest in education infrastructure, projects such as the Riara Primary renovation highlight the role of leadership in driving meaningful change at the grassroots level.
