Huduma Mashinani reaches Komothai and Ngewa

Residents of Komothai and Ngewa wards in Githunguri Municipality received key county services closer to their homes during the latest Huduma Mashinani outreach programme aimed at improving access to government services at the grassroots.

The initiative, held at Kibichoi in Komothai Ward and Kiambururu in Ngewa Ward, brought together county officials and residents in an effort to enhance service delivery and reduce the burden of travelling long distances to access essential county services.

During the outreach exercise, residents were able to access a range of services including Single Business Permits (SBP), Physical Planning services, Public Health services, and Land Rates assistance.

County officials said the programme is part of ongoing efforts by the Kiambu County Government to strengthen people-centred governance and ensure services are easily accessible to wananchi across different wards and villages.

Traders and business owners who attended the exercise welcomed the move, saying the outreach had eased the process of accessing permits and seeking clarification on county regulations affecting businesses and land matters.

Residents also took advantage of the opportunity to engage directly with county officers on various concerns affecting their areas, including planning issues, sanitation, and compliance procedures.

The Huduma Mashinani programme has increasingly become a key strategy used by the county government to decentralise services and improve interaction between wananchi and county departments.

Local leaders present during the exercise praised residents for turning up in large numbers and encouraged them to continue participating in such programmes to ensure they benefit fully from county initiatives.

Officials noted that taking services closer to the people helps improve efficiency, saves residents time and transport costs, and strengthens trust between the county administration and local communities.

The outreach also allowed county departments to educate residents on the importance of compliance with business licensing, land rates, and public health regulations to support orderly growth and development within the municipality.

Residents expressed optimism that continued grassroots engagement would help address service delivery gaps and improve development within the area.

The county government reaffirmed its commitment to expanding the Huduma Mashinani initiative to more wards across Kiambu, saying the programme remains critical in ensuring no resident is left behind in accessing government services.
