Tragedy struck on Monday in Loberer, Baringo County, as two individuals were fatally shot in a bandit attack along the Marigat-Chemolingot road. The victims were part of a convoy heading to Nginyang market under police escort when they were ambushed by armed assailants.
The attackers targeted two lorries in the convoy, opening fire indiscriminately. One of the drivers attempted to flee on foot but was tragically gunned down on the spot. The second victim succumbed to injuries later in the hospital. Two others sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and are currently receiving medical treatment.
This incident has heightened tensions in the region, with residents expressing growing concerns over the escalating insecurity. The Marigat-Loruk road, in particular, has become increasingly dangerous, prompting authorities to provide police escorts for vehicles traveling the route.
In response to the attack, security patrols have been intensified, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Baringo County Hospital mortuary.
