Kiambu Polytechnic opens Hospitality apprenticeship applications for Germany, deadline set for October 24, 2025

Kiambu National Polytechnic has unveiled an international apprenticeship program that will see young Kenyans trained and placed in hospitality jobs across Germany.

The initiative, developed in partnership with BSZ Erding and the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA Bavaria), aims to equip participants with world-class hospitality skills, language proficiency, and workplace experience aligned with European industry standards.

Targeting youth aged between 18 and 24 years, the program seeks applicants holding at least a Level 4 certificate in Food and Beverage or Catering and Accommodation or those with a minimum of two years’ experience in the hospitality sector.

Successful candidates must also demonstrate basic German proficiency at A1 level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The apprenticeship will run in two stages: a six-month blended training at Kiambu National Polytechnic from January to July 2026, followed by paid apprenticeships in Germany’s leading hotels.

According to the Polytechnic, the local training phase will combine language and professional skills to prepare trainees for seamless integration into Germany’s dual vocational training system renowned for its balance of classroom instruction and real-world application.

Upon completion, the participants will travel to Germany to gain hands-on experience, a move expected to enhance employability and facilitate skills transfer back home.

Applicants are required to submit their CVs, certified academic documents, and proof of language proficiency to the Principal via email at principal@kiambupoly.ac.ke by October 24, 2025.

Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.

The program, officials say, reflects Kenya’s growing commitment to international collaboration in technical training and aims to prepare young people for sustainable careers in the global hospitality market.
