Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Daniel Wangombe Ndungu, suspected to be the mastermind behind SIM card fraud and phone impersonation, during an operation in Membley, Ruiru.
“Following tips, the detectives executed an operation in Ruiru’s Membley area, successfully intercepting the suspect who was behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, KBP 731D, Nissan Saloon,” the DCI said in a statement.
Upon searching the car, detectives recovered a significant amount of evidence. “The detectives recovered 6 Safaricom SIM cards, 7 Airtel SIM cards, 2 Telkom SIM cards, and assorted mobile phones,” the DCI confirmed.
The suspect was taken to the DCI Serious Crime Unit headquarters for processing, pending his arraignment in court.
This arrest is part of an ongoing effort by law enforcement to combat SIM card fraud and related cybercrimes. Authorities encourage the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
