The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has suspended two Kenyan footballers for an unprecedented 365 years each after finding them guilty of double registration under different identities.
In a disciplinary ruling released on Thursday, FKF confirmed that investigations into player eligibility involving Santos Hotspurs, Nairobi FC and Kirinyaga Stars uncovered serious breaches of registration rules.
According to the findings, Bernard Oelle, who turned out for Santos Hotspurs, was also registered as Maira Oelle at Nairobi FC. Records indicate he was first registered at Nairobi FC before featuring for Santos under a different name.
In a separate but related case, Nganga Ebrahim of Santos Hotspurs was found to have been registered as Ebrahim Hassan at Kirinyaga Stars. Documentation shows his initial registration was at Kirinyaga Stars in 2020 before a subsequent registration elsewhere.
Following the verdict, FKF awarded Fortune Kinderen a 2-0 win and three points in line with competition rules governing ineligible players.
The 365-year suspension effectively bars the two players from participating in any organised football activity under FKF’s jurisdiction. The ruling sends a strong warning to clubs and players over adherence to registration regulations.
The development comes months after FKF’s Disciplinary Committee fined Gor Mahia FC Ksh300,000 over security breaches during a league fixture against Bidco United FC at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
FKF at the time reaffirmed that clubs bear full responsibility for safety, order and compliance during official matches, even when third-party service providers are engaged.
With the latest ruling, the federation has once again signalled a firm stance on discipline and regulatory compliance in Kenyan football.
