Kiambu MP Machua Waithaka kicks off Ngegu–Edenville Road tarmacking

Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka has officially launched the tarmacking of Ngegu–Edenville Road, a development expected to significantly improve transport, connectivity, and economic activity within the constituency.

The project, now underway, involves concrete placement and compression works, alongside the installation of a modern drainage system to protect the road from water-related damage. Historically, poor drainage has accelerated the deterioration of local roads, resulting in potholes, vehicle wear, and reduced accessibility. This upgrade aims to ensure durability and long-term serviceability for residents, traders, and motorists.

Speaking during the launch, MP Waithaka said the project forms part of a broader infrastructure plan intended to strengthen local transport networks and improve daily commuting experiences. “This road is vital for our community. Upgrading it will make travel safer, reduce vehicle maintenance costs, and enhance access to markets, schools, and health facilities,” he said.

Residents have welcomed the project, noting that the new tarmac will reduce travel time, ease the movement of goods and services, and boost local businesses. Traders along the corridor, in particular, highlighted that smoother roads will facilitate faster delivery of farm produce and other commodities to key markets.

The project has also received support from the county government, which has emphasized collaboration with national representatives to ensure quality, timely execution, and sustainability. County engineers will oversee the implementation, ensuring compliance with technical standards and safety regulations.

Local leaders view the Ngegu–Edenville Road upgrade as a catalyst for economic growth and social development. It is expected to attract new investment, improve property values, and create job opportunities for construction workers and related service providers. The road will also serve as a key link between surrounding estates, enhancing regional connectivity within Kiambu Town.

MP Waithaka urged residents to cooperate with the construction teams and follow safety guidelines during the project. He reiterated his commitment to delivering more infrastructure projects aimed at transforming lives, stimulating commerce, and promoting inclusive development across the constituency.

As work progresses, stakeholders remain optimistic that the completion of Ngegu–Edenville Road will set a precedent for high-quality infrastructure projects in Kiambu, demonstrating the positive impact of coordinated leadership and community-focused planning on local development.
