Khamasi, who represented Shinyalu Constituency for two consecutive terms between 1997 and 2007, passed away on Tuesday morning at a Nairobi hospital after a prolonged illness. He was 79.
Tributes poured in from leaders across the country, remembering him as a dedicated public servant who played a key role in the political and social development of Shinyalu.
Kakamega Governor Fernandez Barasa described the former legislator as a committed leader whose contribution to the constituency would be remembered for years.
Family members, friends and political colleagues continue to mourn his death as preparations for burial arrangements begin.
