MP John Kawanjiku drives Karura town upgrade

Residents and traders in Karura Town Centre are set to benefit from improved infrastructure as ongoing road tarmacking works continue to transform the area and enhance economic activity.

The project, which is being implemented within Kiambaa Constituency, is aimed at addressing longstanding challenges that have affected residents and businesses for years, particularly dust during dry seasons and muddy conditions whenever it rains.

According to Kiambaa MP John Kawanjiku, the ongoing works are part of broader efforts to improve the town’s infrastructure and create a more conducive environment for business growth and daily movement.

The legislator noted that the transformation currently taking shape in Karura Town Centre is expected to significantly improve mobility for motorists, pedestrians and traders who rely on the area as a key commercial hub.

For years, residents have complained about the poor state of roads within the town, especially during rainy seasons when sections became difficult to access due to mud and poor drainage. During dry periods, dust from untarmacked roads has also been a major concern for businesses and residents.

The ongoing tarmacking works are expected to provide a lasting solution to these challenges while enhancing the overall appearance of the town.

Local traders have welcomed the project, expressing optimism that better roads will attract more customers and encourage investment in the growing urban centre.

Improved road infrastructure is also expected to reduce travel time, lower vehicle maintenance costs and improve access to essential services for residents living within Karura and neighbouring areas.

The project forms part of ongoing development initiatives aimed at modernising urban centres across Kiambu County and supporting economic growth through better infrastructure.

With improved accessibility, Karura Town Centre is expected to strengthen its position as a growing commercial hub within Kiambaa Constituency. Better roads are likely to support the movement of goods and services while creating a more attractive environment for businesses seeking to expand their operations.

Leaders have maintained that infrastructure development remains a key pillar in efforts to stimulate local economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents.

As the works continue, residents are hopeful that the completed project will not only eliminate the challenges of dust and mud but also open up new opportunities for trade, investment and development.

Once completed, the upgraded road network is expected to enhance connectivity within the town and contribute to the long-term transformation of Karura into a modern and vibrant urban centre.
