President William Ruto visits Thika Constituency, Kiambu County

President William Samoei Ruto has been welcomed to Thika Constituency in Kiambu County, where he is expected to engage with local leaders and assess ongoing development initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and economic growth in the region.

The visit, which attracted senior national and county leaders, was marked by a warm reception as residents and leaders gathered to host the Head of State in one of Kiambu’s key economic hubs.

Thika Constituency, a major industrial and agricultural centre, has in recent years been at the centre of infrastructure expansion, housing development, and road improvement programmes aimed at boosting connectivity and trade.

During the visit, leaders highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the national government and county leadership in accelerating development projects that directly impact residents.

Local representatives noted that Thika continues to play a significant role in Kiambu County’s economy, contributing to manufacturing, agribusiness, and small-scale trade that supports thousands of households.

The President’s visit is also expected to provide an opportunity for leaders to present priority development issues affecting residents, including road infrastructure, water supply, housing, and youth empowerment programmes.

Residents expressed optimism that the visit would help fast-track key government projects in the area, especially those targeting job creation and improved living standards.

Thika remains one of the fastest-growing urban centres in the Mt Kenya region, with increasing demand for housing, better transport systems, and improved public services.

The area has also witnessed expansion in industrial investments, with factories and small enterprises contributing significantly to local employment.

Leaders accompanying the President emphasized the need for continued government support to sustain this growth and ensure equitable development across all wards in the constituency.

The visit also comes at a time when the government is intensifying efforts to roll out nationwide development programmes, including affordable housing, road construction, and economic empowerment initiatives targeting youth and women.

Community leaders called on residents to remain engaged in development conversations and take advantage of ongoing government programmes designed to uplift livelihoods.

While the details of the President’s full itinerary in Thika were not immediately disclosed, the engagement is expected to include interactions with local leaders, development briefings, and inspections of ongoing projects.

As the visit continues, attention remains focused on possible announcements that may emerge regarding new or ongoing government initiatives within Kiambu County.
