Women, youth and persons with disabilities in Kabete Ward, Kabete Constituency, have received a major boost following the rollout of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) Empowerment Programme.
The initiative was led by Kiambu Woman Representative Hon. Anne Muratha and focuses on strengthening grassroots economic empowerment through tools, equipment and financial support aimed at improving livelihoods.
Several self-help groups benefited from the programme, with Our Vision Self Help Group receiving a tent and 100 chairs, while Kanisa Madukani Group was supported with 50 chairs. Empowerment cheques were issued to Wangige Business Ladies Forum, Mugumoini Muoroto Women Group, Maina Road Women Group Fellowship and Shiloh Women Group.
Additional support included business umbrellas, UV machines, hair dryers and shaving machines to support small enterprises, alongside food distribution during the event.
Hon. Muratha said the programme is designed to build sustainable businesses, restore dignity and create long-term opportunities for vulnerable groups at the grassroots level.
